Session Submissions

The 2026 Call for Proposals

Your expertise, challenges, successes, and lessons learned are welcome on many topics, including:

  • Statistical methods and applications for detecting potential test fraud
  • Tools and methods for protecting the validity of testing results and brand integrity
  • Strategies for developing or improving test security programs
  • Experiences developing and using standards to prevent and detect test fraud
  • And more!

The Conference on Test Security brings together all perspectives in the Certification, K-12, Higher Education, Government, and Assessment industries. We look forward to seeing you!

Please note the following:

1) To uphold an environment where open and honest dialogue can take place, sessions at COTS will not be recorded. This decision ensures participants can engage freely and without hesitation, preserving the authenticity of conversations and enabling peers to share ideas openly without reservation.

2) In addition, presentation rooms will not have hardwired Internet connection and WiFi in conference facilities can be unreliable. For this reason, sessions submitted for the in-person conference should include only presenters who plan to attend the in-person event.

You can look forward to the following session formats at COTS:

All session formats can be presented in-person or virtually with the exception of Hands-On Workshops and Poster Presentations (in-person only).

  1. 15-Minute Presentations: This format is ideal for presenting findings from individual research projects. Submissions in this category will be grouped with 1-2 other similar presentations by the COTS Executive Committee to create one 60-minute session. Each presenter will have approximately 15 minutes to share their work, followed by brief audience engagement, time permitting.
  2. 60-Minute Presentations: This session type allows flexibility in presentation style, including discussions, analyses, panels, demonstrations, roundtables, or other interactive formats. Presenters can freely structure their session in any way that best conveys their content. If a component of your presentation requires a live internet connection (e.g., you intend to show a video or offer a live demo of a web tool), please have a backup plan in mind in the event that the connection does not support that activity.
  3. 2-Hour Hands-On Workshops (In-Person Only): A highly interactive session focused on skills-based learning through hands-on activities, exercises, or problem-solving. Ideal for in-depth training, collaborative work, and real-time application of concepts. Each Hands-On Workshop will occupy one 2-hour space.
  4. Poster Presentations (In-Person Only): Present your research in a poster display alongside other presenters. This format provides informal, one-on-one interactions with many attendees. During the session, conference attendees can wander around the room to browse the various posters. Presenters are expected to stay by their poster for the duration of the session so participants can listen to their work and ask questions. Easels and/or whiteboards will be provided. Please note that the Poster Session space does not include power or A/V. For additional details on poster presentations, please see below.

Presenter Details

Please Note:

  • Registration: All presenters who are planning to attend the conference should register for the event. If someone is listed as an author or contributor but will not attend, they do not need to register .

  • Presentation Schedule: We are unable to accept requests for particular presentation days or times. Submitters should be able to attend the entire conference to allow them to present at any session slot that is assigned.

  • Arrival: Please arrive a few minutes before your presentation begins so you have time to set up.

  • Room Setup: A podium, microphone, speakers, projector, screen, and HDMI cable will be provided in every room.

  • Materials: Presenters should provide their own laptops for their presentations. Please bring any materials, equipment, or adapters you may need for your presentation and ensure you have the necessary connections (e.g., HDMI adapter, slide clicker, power cords, etc.).

  • Slide Decks: COTS does not provide presenters with a PowerPoint template, so presenters may use their preferred template. Slides do not need to follow a specific format, and submission beforehand is not necessary.

  • Time Management: Presenters are responsible for managing their own time during their session. Please be mindful of the schedule and ensure your presentation, stays within your allotted timeframe.

  • Q&A: Those delivering 15-minute presentations are strongly encouraged to coordinate with other sessions presenters to reserve all Q&A for the end of the session, after all presentations have been delivered. Please repeat audience questions aloud before answering them.

Poster Presentations

Posters are informal and involve one-on-one interactions with many attendees. Please plan on bringing physical posters with you, including any materials needed for displaying. Easels and/or whiteboards, tape, and scissors will be provided on your behalf to aid in displaying posters.

The Poster Session space does not include power. No tables are provided. If you choose to provide handouts, you are welcome to do so, though many choose to simply provide a QR code.

COTS can accommodate posters of various sizes; however, the most common poster size for academic conferences is 48" (wide) x 36" (high).
